![]() With the equipment mounted and wired, the last step in this system installation was to configure the amp for the head unit and speakers the client chose. Given the proximity of the rear speakers to the driver and passenger, the extra power to the front speakers balances the system nicely. The rear speaker pods are wired in stereo to channels five and six and receive 75 watts of power each. The front speakers are wired to the amp in a bridged configuration to provide them with a healthy 200 watts of power. We connected the amp to the factory source unit using MESA interconnect cables. Four AWG power and ground wiring run to the battery in the rear of the Slingshot to provide the juice the amp needs to perform. The amplifier is mounted to the floor of the Slingshot under the driver’s seat. At our suggestion, the client chose a JL Audio M600/6 six-channel amp to power the system. The stock radio was retained for this audio system.Ī key part of ensuring the client would be able to enjoy his music was a suitable amplifier. This optimization helps improve bass output from the relatively small speaker system. Each pod features 6.5-inch coaxial speaker designed specifically for the air volume the enclosures provide. We mounted the VeX pods between the headrests to ensure all the music is easy to hear. We mounted a set of PS650-VeX-SG-TMB speaker pods to the roll cage the client had added to his three-wheeler. The fiberglass enclosures fit perfectly around the chassis and provide ample space for the speakers to perform magnificently without taking up much leg room.įor rear speakers, we turned to the JL Audio VeX speaker pods. As we mentioned, the extra tweeters ensure that the client’s music is audible, even at 70 miles per hour. We loaded a set of JL Audio MX650-CCX-SG-TB 6.5-inch coaxial speakers into the enclosures and drilled mounting holes for 1-inch JL Audio M10-CT-SG-TB tweeters in the upper corners. These fiberglass enclosures are designed specifically for the 20 Polaris Slingshot and mount inside the external tubular frame using existing mounting hardware. We started the project by installing a set of SSV Works SS-F65-U front speaker pods. Our plan for the Polaris Slingshot audio system upgrade included two sets of JL Audio speakers and an extra set of tweeters to help overcome wind noise. Our crew was able to mount the VeX pods back far enough so they didn’t interfere with driving. ![]()

Residual value is determined by multiplying the MSRP by the estimated depreciation value.Wondering how to find the residual value of a car? Here’s an easy formula to follow: Residual value is a car’s estimated wholesale value at the end of a lease or after a certain period of time. When it comes to determining the cost of a car lease or a vehicle’s resale value, residual value is an important deciding factor - or, at least it should be for you and your lender. Assets with no salvage value will have the same total depreciation as the cost of the asset.Contact Us Finance Center FAQs What is Residual Value on a Car? If the salvage value of an asset is known (such as the amount it can be sold as for parts at the end of its life), the cost of the asset can subtract this value to find the total amount that can be depreciated. In regards to depreciation, salvage value (sometimes called residual or scrap value) is the estimated worth of an asset at the end of its useful life. Simply select "Yes" as an input in order to use partial year depreciation when using the calculator. One method is called partial year depreciation, where depreciation is calculated exactly at when assets start service. Depending on different accounting rules, depreciation on assets that begins in the middle of a fiscal year can be treated differently. Not all assets are purchased conveniently at the beginning of the accounting year, which can make the calculation of depreciation more complicated. (Asset Cost - Salvage Value) × Actual Production the total number of units that the asset can produce. With this method, the depreciation is expressed by the total number of units produced vs. Depreciation for the Year = (Asset Cost - Salvage Value) × factor It is generally more useful than straight-line depreciation for certain assets that have greater ability to produce in the earlier years, but tend to slow down as they age. Similar to declining balance depreciation, sum of the years' digits (SYD) depreciation also results in faster depreciation when the asset is new. Sum of the Years' Digits Depreciation Method However, depreciation stops once book values drop to salvage values. Regarding this method, salvage values are not included in the calculation for annual depreciation. Use a depreciation factor of two when doing calculations for double declining balance depreciation. In these situations, the declining balance method tends to be more accurate than the straight-line method at reflecting book value each year.ĭepreciation per year = Book value × Depreciation rateĭouble declining balance is the most widely used declining balance depreciation method, which has a depreciation rate that is twice the value of straight line depreciation for the first year. As these assets age, their depreciation rates slow over time. The following is the formula: Depreciation per year =įor specific assets, the newer they are, the faster they depreciate in value. It is a method of distributing the cost evenly across the useful life of the asset. ![]() Straight-line depreciation is the most widely used and simplest method. Keep in mind that accelerated depreciation methods (such as declining balance or sum of the years' digits) can artificially reduce profit in the near term, followed by higher profits in later terms, which can influence reported cash flows. The total amount of depreciation for any asset will be identical in the end no matter which method of depreciation is chosen only the timing of depreciation will be altered. The following are some of the widely used methods. ![]() There are many methods of distributing depreciation amount over its useful life. Within a business in the U.S., depreciation expenses are tax-deductible. Instead of appearing as a sharp jump in the accounting books, this can be smoothed by expensing the asset over its useful life. When a company purchases an asset, such as a piece of equipment, such large purchases can skewer the income statement confusingly. For instance, a widget-making machine is said to "depreciate" when it produces fewer widgets one year compared to the year before it, or a car is said to "depreciate" in value after a fender bender or the discovery of a faulty transmission.įor accounting, in particular, depreciation concerns allocating the cost of an asset over a period of time, usually its useful life. Conceptually, depreciation is the reduction in the value of an asset over time due to elements such as wear and tear. ![]() |
